Cynthia LaClair has dedicated her legal career solely to complex matrimonial and custody litigation for over 30 years, right from her graduation from Albany Law School.
She began as a law clerk and, later, associate with the Law Firm of Timothy M. Tippins in Troy, New York. When Ms. LaClair was elevated to partner, the firm became known as Tippins & Cornaire, PLLC. After leaving the firm to operate her own solo practice in Albany for several years, she was named a partner in the law firm of Harris, Conway & Donovan, PLLC, where she chaired the firm’s Matrimonial Department. It was there that she and Lauren DeLuca first worked together and envisioned forming their own firm.
Ms. LaClair and Ms. DeLuca have worked together since the beginning of Ms. DeLuca’s law career. They have an impressive unity, a cohesive way of thinking, and a complementary professional style, appreciated by each and every client.
Ms. LaClair understands the importance of a persistent, tenacious approach while maintaining professionalism at all times. She is respected by her peers and adversaries and cherished by her clients, who have not only enjoyed successful outcomes, but enjoyed thoughtful, regular communication along the way. A “lawyer’s lawyer,” she quite simply loves the practice of law, relishing the full journey of a case… from research to strategy to trial.
Ms. LaClair is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a highly selective national designation given only to skilled, experienced litigators in the practice of family law. She has also, for the better part of her career, served as a lecturer for MatLaw continuing legal education seminars, as well as programs for the New York State Bar Association. She is a member of the Albany County Bar Association.
She resides in Brunswick, New York with her husband, John LaClair.
