David is regarded by other lawyers, by the judges he appears before, and by respected peer review surveys as one of the top matrimonial attorneys in New York. He was honored by “Best Lawyers in America” as its “Lawyer of the Year” and has been repeatedly selected among the “Top 100 Lawyers” in New York (including all specialties) by “Super Lawyers.” Chambers and Partners, the respected British legal ratings publication has ranked David as “Band 1”, the highest rating they provide.
Although a respected trial lawyer, David is known to be a creative settlor of cases, who recognizes that whenever possible, disputes should be resolved through negotiation, and that trial should be viewed as a last resort. Other matrimonial lawyers have frequently turned to David to act as a mediator or arbitrator when their efforts to settle cases for their clients have deadlocked.
The review in Chambers and Partners includes the following comments: “He’s the complete package,” declares one lawyer, who continues: “He is strong on the court side as well as when trying to come to a deal.” Another source reports: “He is very highly regarded and is renowned for his overall reputation to get results for his clients.”
David is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the American College of Family Trial Lawyers (which only has 100 members nationwide), the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (and sat as a member of that Association’s Council on Judicial Administration), and the New York State Bar Association. He is a former Adjunct Assistant Professor at Brooklyn Law School
David has been married to Inette Aronson since 1978. They have two children, one of whom is a Partner at Aronson Mayefsky & Sloan.
