Virginia A. LoPreto

Virginia A. LoPreto is a partner at LoPreto + Levy, LLP and has been practicing law for more than 30 years, representing parents as well as children in all aspects of matrimonial and family law. A litigator by training she balances her trial experience with extensive training and experience in mediation and conflict resolution. Since 2010, Virginia has been certified to serve as an Attorney for the Child in the Appellate Division, First Department of the State of New York and is regularly appointed to represent children in high conflict divorce cases. In 2020, she was selected to serve on the roster of court-appointed mediators for the Matrimonial Mediation Pilot Program in the Supreme Court, New York County. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and sits on its Board of Managers. Presently, she is in her second year as co-chair of the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health and Family Law, an organization dedicated to promoting discussion amongst, and providing education for its members which include judges, attorneys and mental health professionals. In 2022 she joined the Board of Directors of Judges and Lawyer’s Breast Cancer Alert. She is frequently called upon to lecture on family law matters for the AAML, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, New York Women’s Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
